Total Rip-off! Somebody Kill that lying Duck! - Aflac accident policy


About nine months ago during open registration at my place of employment AFLAC put on their Dog and Pony show about what great supplemental health insurance they were and how they would help pay your bills, etc. What AFLC doesn't bother to tell you is that they make filing a claim that they will accept as difficult as possible. They have already denied a perfectly legitimate claim from me. I was looking into filing a claim for my wife, who was recently injured at work, when I discovered that AFLAC expects you to provide their claim form to the physical while you are being treated for the accident. So while you are in the middle of an emergency you are expected to stop, logon to the AFLAC website, sign in, download and print the claim form. Perhaps AFLAC thinks you should download and a keep a copy of their accident claim form on your person at all times in the event that you might have an accident sometime in the future. Most of us don't have time to make an appointment with an attending physician after an accident to have them fill out an accident claim form, and most physicians are too busy treating the patient to take time to fill out AFLAC's accident claim form. Is this a criminal action? Sadly no, but it goes beyond unethical. I understand that AFLAC is in business to make a profit, and I am sure they do quite well by making it as difficult as possible for it's customers to file a claim. They might want to add the requirement that the accident form be signed with the blood of a virgin, during the dark of the moon. The board of directors should be all over that idea. Anything to sweeten the bottom line and up those bonus dollars.

Oh man that's horrible. Why didn't they pay you on the accident? If you are owed money I would stay persistent. It's unfortunate your agent didn't know the product.

I hate hearing such a bad experience. I just started as an agent, contracted out of Aflac. As long as you are eligible under the policy, you can make claims (that are eligible retroactively) from what I understand. Talk with your agent. Sadly we are all 100% commission and there are really crummy ones out there. Have you tried contacting the regional head or even world headquarters?

AFLAC is a scam. I had a covered accident, was in the hospital for 11 days and six months later I still can't work. Our policy was to pay $100 a day for hospitalization, $100 for ambulance ride and pay for some of the Dr. and wound clinic visits. They only paid $750- total. You do the math. We sent in all the documentation that they needed. As soon as we got the last letter back saying they would not pay any more, we dropped them. Their agents don't follow through with any help. Should have known that when they sponsor NASCAR teams and have too many commercials on TV that their customers would pay the price. TOTAL RIPOFF

Your wife must dress you in the morning too. Insurance that pays you money requires proof of whatever it is your filing for. I guess it's true you can't fix stupid!!!

I have been an AFLAc Representative for 11 yrs. I can honestly say if you have issues, Don't blame AFLAC, Blame the Agent that enrolled you. The one place I do see AFLAC's failure is with the Agents. We are 100% Commission based. Therefore once you sign on, the Agent disappears and you age left with handling the rest on your own. I am very dedicated to my Policyholders and handle their claims with no compensation, but instead the loyalty of my policyholders(which can not be replaced monitary). AFLAC does focus way to much on pushing numbers verses stability. If it were not for my policyholders, I would have already left the self employed status with AFLAC. You want a Great AGENT, ask them how many claims they assist with on a daily basis. If you call them and are told contact World Wide Headquarters if it is in regards to claims, you have an AGENT that doesn't care. Believe me, thats 95% of them. Sorry just being Honest!

i just posted my complaint on there facebook page. They sold me a disability policy and accident. I asked the agent how the disability policy worked and if I was hurt at work would it pay she said yes. I asked her 3 different times. well it doesnt I could have spent like $5 more and bought a rider that would have covered me I would have if I would have been given the correct information I can valadate her conversation They didnt even pay all the required coverage on the accident policy. People need to check what they've been sold especially with payroll deduction I dont think my agent lied intentionally she just didnt know the policy unfortunately Im the victim. And Aflac has been rude and non responsive There horrible in my opinion Id like to know how they screwed you over I've found other people with similar issues. Will see what the Inurance commissioner says the verbage in the policy probably will back them and they know it. Its to bad they do this peopl they make enough money I'm not sure what they gain by hurting the small guy
