Employer Billing Screwup


We have a small business where I pay some of our bills automatically from online banking. When I overpaid due to forgetting to reduce the payment to reflect an employee leaving, instead of applying the overpayment to my account or even calling me to ask how it should be applied, they sent the overpayment to the former employee, even after I informed them immediately when that employee left three months prior to the overpayment! I tried for months to get them to fix this and I was told I needed to collect it from the employee. My local agent even got involved trying to help me and was not able to get the problem fixed. I finally was able to collect my overpayment from our former employee by my own efforts, but am boiling mad at how I was treated. Apparently Aflac does not value small businesses and will not take responsibility for their own mistakes!

Did your agent treat you well? It sounds like such a hassle indeed. The employee status really could have and maybe should have been changed once you let your agent know re: payroll. I'm a new agent, 3 weeks in, just trying to assist! I care about small businesses. Agents are independently contracted and I have been bearing a black eye for them so far, not fun or pleasant for anyone. I'm glad you stuck to your guns!

Sounds like you made a mistake, and wanted AFLAC to pay for it. You should pay more attention to your job, and make adjustments to invoices accordingly and this issue could have been avoided.
